In week five of my Seminar in Crisis Communications at Purdue, our class was presented with three different crisis scenarios. Our assignment was to choose one scenario and craft messaging to three different audiences (internal stakeholders, media and external stakeholders).

I chose to respond to the following scenario:

“You are the manager of a local fast food chain in a college town with two locations in surrounding, well-populated suburbs with an ethnically diverse set of inhabitants with varying levels of socioeconomic status. Someone has recently begun putting signs up around town that indicate the finding of a needle in your signature hamburger. This accusation has been completely unverified, and signs are anonymous. Furthermore, no one has brought any formal legal allegations to your company regarding the needle, and you are certain the event did not happen. Craft an appropriate response based off your readings and our class discussions and videos.”
