Things happened quickly at The Ohio State University Libraries in regards to COVID-19. In order to protect our students, faculty and staff, University Libraries had to make rapidly evolving decisions about building closures, services offered and resources available. The Marketing and Communications team was responsible for communicating these changes to the public.

Working across University Libraries departments, I gathered information of importance to Libraries users and compiled the content into a new web page: Library Services During COVID-19.

The site was divided into sections, including a landing page with information about reference services and online resources that would be relevant to the majority of our users. For more specific resources, we created child pages to direct users based on their needs.

In response to a request from University Libraries leadership, we also created a Virtual Experiences page. On this page, we compiled information about upcoming webinars, posted recorded webinar sessions and short videos in a “Curator Talks” series, directed users to online workshops, compiled a list of digital exhibits and more.

In addition to creating and maintaining the Virtual Experiences website, I was responsible for editing the recorded sessions to ensure adherence with university brand standards. I also transcribed the videos to add closed captioning for accessibility purposes. These recorded virtual experiences can be found on the University Libraries YouTube Channel. The shorter “Curator Talks” videos were also posted in a new playlist on the University Libraries Facebook Page and garnered significantly higher than average engagement rates.
